In this post, we get to know Ella Grappy, our latest Digital PR & Outreach hire. Ella joined Honchō after falling in love with Digital PR in a successful marketing apprenticeship. Read on to find out about her previous experience, what her ideal weekend looks like and more.
I started off by working for a marketing agency in St Albans as a Digital Marketing Apprentice. The apprenticeship covered a lot of different areas and PR is one that really stood out to me. After one of my training weeks, I knew that Digital PR was the perfect path to go down for me. So, here I am!
I love that PR is essentially about telling a brand’s story and bringing that story to life.
As someone who absolutely loves to learn, working in PR has allowed me to learn something new every day, without fail. It reminds me that there’s always more to learn, which means that there’s always room for me to grow.
Within the short amount of time I’ve been here, I’ve had the opportunity to work on so many great campaigns with my team already! I couldn’t pick a favourite at the moment – all of them have been so interesting and varied – I can’t wait to work on more.
During my apprenticeship, I began marketing for a client who was part of a chain of stores. Shortly after, the entire chain had started paying attention to the marketing of this one singular store and approached the agency for marketing services!
My advice would be that it’s never too late.
When I was younger, I had absolutely no idea what I wanted to do with my career – I felt lost, alone and anxious about my future prospects when everyone else around me seemed to have it ‘all figured out’.
Trust in yourself, trust in your passions, read, learn, get to know yourself; and it’ll all fall into place eventually. I’m now working in an industry I absolutely adore and it’s all thanks to the fact that I found my way once I understood myself and allowed myself to delve into my passions.
A dog walk during the day, maybe a gym session, some reading, dinner and drinks to end the day (or maybe a takeaway on the sofa with a glass of wine if I’m feeling a little less social).
I love weight lifting, and going on walks with my partner and dog. Spending time with family and friends is really important to me, so I always make sure to set aside time to give them a call or see them in person.
I’ve always loved cooking, so exploring different cuisines and cultures a bit more is something I’d love to get into! And I’m a sucker for a solo cinema trip when I can sneak away on my own for a little while and get lost in a film.
Thank for chatting with us, Ella! We’ll let you get back to it.
