Honchō Takes Home 3 Trophies at The UK Content & PR Awards!

Honchō Takes Home 3 Trophies at The UK Content & PR Awards!

Following on from our wins at the European Search Awards in May, our Digital PR team here at Honchō headed down to London to attend the UK Content & PR Awards 2025, and were delighted to receive not one, not two, but three awards for their digital PR campaigns!

The awards were:

  • Automotive Campaign of The Year - for our Dashboard Doubts campaign for our client, Group 1 Automotive

  • Most Innovative PR Campaign of The Year - also for our Dashboard Doubts campaign!

  • Real Time Response Campaign of The Year - for our work with our client Dick Lovett, Changing Lanes: From Complexity to Clarity

Dashboard Doubts - Automotive Campaign of The Year, and Most Innovative PR Campaign of The Year

Having previously won the gold award for Digital PR Campaign of The Year (Automotive) at the UK Search Awards, our Dashboard Doubts campaign hasn’t stepped on the brakes just yet, taking home a further 2 awards at the UK Content & PR Awards for Automotive Campaign of The Year and Most Innovative PR Campaign of The Year.

So what exactly did we do?

We created the campaign 'Dashboard Doubts' to uncover how well drivers know their dashboard symbols, whilst providing an education aspect through an online game.

We first conducted a survey among 2,000 drivers nationwide to understand their familiarity with the dashboard symbols that cou;ld appear in their vehicles. The results found that an overwhelming 8 in 10 respondents claimed confidence in their knowledge of these symbols, yet the average British driver could only recognise and identify 45% of them.

With this compelling data, we took it one step further, creating an on-site game for users to test their knowledge, and match the correct dashboard symbol with its name. Not only did this engage the audience directly on Group 1’s site, but it also provided journalists with valuable data, as well as an asset worth linking to in order to complete their stories.

By creating a fun and interactive piece of content, we knew we would earn coverage and links to connect with target audiences. And that’s exactly what we did.

The Results

  • Increased brand awareness with 175 pieces of media coverage in major publications such as The Telegraph, Yahoo! News and MSN.

  • 172 high authority backlinks contributing to organic performance, on sites including The National, The Herald, Bournemouth Echo, Daily Echo, The Argus and Oxford Mail.

  • The campaign was seen by over 203 million people and Group 1 Automotive saw a 23.8% increase in website traffic, with a high average engagement time.

  • Improved keyword rankings across a range of branded and campaign relevant terms, placing them at position one in most cases.

Changing Lanes - Real Time Response Campaign of The Year

Our Changing Lanes campaign for Dick Lovett took home the award for Real Time Response Campaign of The Year, and is a true testament to how our Digital PR team jumps on the news, and reacts quickly, in a way that connects with consumers.

In 2024, the government announced there would be changes to the way new cars would be taxed in their first taxable year. However, with the price new car owners would be paying largely depending on the CO2 emissions of their vehicles, the new legislation wasn’t the easiest to digest or understand.

And after doing some research on the topic, we found that many news sites weren’t covering this topic at all, leaving many without answers to the questions they may have. So we filled that gap.

We conducted extensive keyword research and topic research with our client, Dick Lovett, and were able to break down exactly how much new car drivers would have to pay in their first taxable year into a simple table, filtered by CO2 emissions, alongside an easy to digest written explanation.

The Results

  • Increased brand awareness with 46 pieces of media coverage, featuring in publications such as The Daily Record, GB News, and The Sun.

  • 21 high authority backlinks to Dick Lovett’s site from top-tier publications such as The Mirror, Birmingham Mail, and Motor Trader News.

  • Increased traffic to the site, with a peak of 10,811 monthly visitors

  • And improved keyword visibility, with the site ranking for over 2,400 keywords.
